I recently picked up a Lenovo ThinkPad P53s primarily to learn coding on the go. I'm diving into HTML and JavaScript right now, but I'm curious about how far I can push this laptop before needing an upgrade. My ultimate aim is to explore game design or general programming, and maybe even some animation down the line. Here are the specs: it's got an Intel i7-8665U processor, 16GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD (though I have a 500GB external SSD for extra storage), a Quadro P520 GPU, and runs on Windows 11 Pro with a max resolution of 1920x1080. Thanks for any insights!

You might want to consider upgrading the SSD when you get a chance. I went with 250GB myself and have regretted it, even with external storage. Everything else looks solid!
Having a USB-C display port for a second monitor is super handy for programming. Just a heads up if you plan on expanding your workspace!
I just checked; I didn’t find a USB-C port, but I do have an HDMI port.
Just think about it; an old Nokia had more processing power than the first space shuttle! Your laptop is much newer, and it should handle JavaScript and more without a hitch.
Overall, your setup is decent. If you start using larger IDEs, consider upgrading to 32GB of RAM—it'll definitely help! As for the GPU, it's entry-level but should work fine as you start out.
Honestly, with your setup, you probably won't ever need to upgrade. Enjoy coding with it!
Damn, really? That's honestly awesome news!
The GPU on this laptop isn't the strongest, so if you're planning on getting into 3D modeling, it might struggle a bit. However, for general programming tasks, it should serve you well!
Awesome lol, thanks!
Not even 3D modeling is that taxing—if you avoid heavy rendering, you should be just fine with this setup!

I'll have to look up how to do that, thanks for the advice!
