SonicWall just announced that due to serious vulnerabilities in their legacy VPN appliances, all SMA 100 devices will be disabled on October 31, 2025. This means if you have an SMA 100, it will lose all user connectivity and functionality. They are offering free replacements and service until the end date, but after that, support will end. How is everyone preparing for this situation? I just found out from a recent email and am curious to see what others are planning.

Does anyone know if the SMA devices are based on x86 or amd64? I was thinking there might be a chance to salvage some hardware if they end up being disabled! It's hard to find info on the internals, though.
It's pretty concerning that they plan to disable the devices without offering any patch options. Makes me wonder if they're focusing more on a remote kill switch rather than ensuring their users have secure devices. Honestly, I'm leaning towards recommending NetGate over SonicWall at this point.
I have a feeling they're going to unveil some crazy vulnerabilities right before the shutdown. Their timeline isn't great, but the offer for a free upgrade to the SMA 1000 series is pretty fair. Honestly, it's better than nothing! Just hope they don't leave us hanging with security updates until then.
They've mentioned a free replacement for the SMA 100 units. Check out their complete FAQ for details on what you can expect. At least that's something, but it still feels a bit frustrating to see them just plan to disable the devices without much else to prevent e-waste.
