I'm looking for recommendations on the best graphics card for gaming at WQHD (1440p), and I'm not really interested in 4K. My budget is around $1000 just for the graphics card. I've been considering options like the RX 9070, but I'm open to suggestions. Is spending extra on a 5080 worth it, or would that be overkill for my needs?

For a budget around $700-$750, the RTX 5070 Ti is a solid choice. You might also want to look at the RX 9070 or 9070 XT, depending on current prices. They both offer great value for 1440p gaming. If you don’t care about 4K, jumping to the 5080 might be unnecessary, but it's powerful if you want to future-proof your setup. Just check out benchmarks for the games you play to make the best decision.

True, the 5070 Ti handles path tracing well at 1440p, so no need to go for the 5080 unless you plan on upgrading to 4K later.

I’d say the 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT are your best bets for value. They perform incredibly well for WQHD gaming, and generally, you'd hit great frames per second. The RX 9070 is a fantastic card too, just make sure it’s at a reasonable price point where you live. The extra power of the 5080 comes with a higher price tag, so I think it's overkill unless you're planning on 4K down the line.

Exactly, for WQHD, the 5070 Ti is definitely the way to go without breaking the bank.

For WQHD gaming, the 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT are definitely the best values. They’re great for handling modern games at high settings. If you find the 5080 for $1k, it could be worth considering, but make sure you really need that level of performance now.

I still think the 5070 Ti is unbeatable for 1440p right now, especially if you are looking at budget and performance.

If you’re not in a rush, waiting for the Super series cards could be worth it. They should have more VRAM and perform better, but if you need something right away, the 5070 Ti is hard to beat. It still offers impressive performance for ray tracing and AI features. Just keep in mind what games you'll be playing, as performance can vary significantly.

Good point! Plus, if you’re looking at 1440p, I think the 5070 Ti will pretty much future-proof you for a little while.
