Help Choosing Between Buying or Building a Gaming PC

I'm looking for advice on building or purchasing a gaming PC for around $3,000 (about 20,000 DKK) in Denmark. I'm mostly interested in playing newer games like "Oblivion Remastered" and "Monster Hunter: Wilds" at a minimum of 145fps in 1080p, and ideally at higher resolutions and frame rates if possible. I'm also hoping to future-proof my setup for at least 5 years. I found a pre-built system online and would like to know if it would be a better option to just buy it or if I'd get better value building my own within my budget.

I tried to match the specs of the system you linked and found that the total cost for DIY would be quite similar to the pre-built option. If you're looking to save a bit, building it could be cheaper. Check out this part list I created: [PCPartPicker Link](https://dk.pcpartpicker.com/list/mj4C9C). The main components are all high quality and offer great performance.

Just a heads-up, the store charges an extra 599 DKK for Windows, so the difference may only be around 1800 DKK if you build it yourself.

If you want a future-proof setup, go for a GPU with at least 16GB of VRAM. I recommend either the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 9800X3D since the CPU performance greatly affects 1080p gaming. For the motherboard, focus on what features you need and aim for B650 or newer. Also, consider your power supply last to choose the right one based on your overall system needs. It’s crucial to use a reliable PSU tier list to pick a good quality unit!

Also, when it comes to RAM, think about going for 32GB. That’s more than enough for gaming, and if possible, get 6000MHz speed since it’s pretty stable with these CPUs.

Building might save you some cash, but remember that getting 145fps in those games is tough without considering frame interpolation. Check out benchmarks with the RTX 5080 to get an accurate idea. Personally, I suggest going for a 1440p monitor since with DLSS it runs similar to 1080p while offering better visuals. Just ensure that your high-end rig will last you five years without issues!
