Considering Upgrades for My Gaming PC: Any Suggestions?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my gaming setup and would love some advice. Currently, I've got a system with a Ryzen 5800X, a Radeon 6700 XT, and a ROG STRIX B550-I Mini ITX motherboard, along with 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I'm mainly gaming at 1440p with titles like Borderlands 4, Battlefield 6, and GTA VI, and I also want to dual-boot between NixOS and Windows. I'm thinking of upgrading my CPU and GPU, but I'd like to know if there are any other changes you would recommend. I prefer a Mini ITX build, even if the motherboards are pricier. Thanks!

Have you considered switching to AM5? It might be worth it for future upgrades!

Your build looks solid! I think upgrading to a 9800X3D is a great choice, especially with air cooling. My only concern is the PSU since it’s at the minimum for the 9070 XT. It should suffice, but keep an eye on GPU temperatures depending on your case. Also, consider looking into PCIe 5.0 extensions for future-proofing your setup!

If gaming is your main focus, I'd shift more of your budget towards the GPU and dial back on the CPU spend. The 9070 XT is a great card, but it's not exactly on par with the 5070 Ti or 5080. Your build is already impressive though!

From what I've seen, the 5070 Ti doesn't quite outperform the 9070 XT at 1440p. It appears the 9070 XT is leading in recent benchmarks. Is that what you've found? The 5070 Ti is also a bit pricier here.

Yeah, those benchmarks seem to favor the 9070 XT. You're getting more bang for your buck with it!

In the AM4 platform, your upgrades would primarily be GPU-focused unless you’re able to find a 5800X3D. The 9060XT is a solid choice for 1440p gaming at 90-120 fps (especially if you turn on FSR4). But if you want maximum performance, the 9070 XT is really the best option. Just double-check if that GPU can fit in your case!

I’m upgrading my motherboard and CPU to the 9800X3D too, as mentioned in my original post. My current 6700 XT fits fine in the case; it's a bit longer than the 9070 XT.

You should definitely check out this video I found! It discusses different builds and might give you some insights on whether the 9800X3D is worth the extra spend. It seems a bit overkill for your needs to me.
