Hey folks! I'm in the process of upgrading my graphics card from a 4060 to a 5070 Ti, but I'm running into some issues. Here's what I'm working with:
- Graphics Card: 5070 Ti (link included for reference)
- Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 750 G3, 80 Plus Gold 750W
- Motherboard: (also linked above)
I've updated my BIOS, connected the new 5070 to my system, but it's not showing up in Device Manager. I've tried reseating it and scanning for hardware, but nothing works. Also, when I tried to install the drivers from NVIDIA, the installation failed since it can't detect the GPU.
I'm worried I might not be using the right cables. I have a single cable coming from my PSU with 8 pins (6 connected and 2 extra) which worked fine with the 4060. The 5070 Ti came with an adapter for up to 3 8-pin cables going into a single male 8-pin connector, which is different from what I had before. I initially plugged in just one 8-pin set, and I also tried both, but no luck. Is there a specific cable I need? Could the GPU be dead? It lights up, but the fans aren't spinning, and I just can't get my system to recognize it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you're using all three 8-pin connectors. The 5070 Ti needs all of them plugged in to work properly, not just one. If you’re daisy chaining, that might be the issue!
It sounds like you might be daisy chaining the cables. You should connect three separate 8-pin cables directly from the PSU to the card instead of using just one cable with an adapter. That might solve the detection issue!
So I need three separate 8-pin cables? Any recommendations for which ones to get from Amazon?
Yeah, definitely. Look for quality cables that are compatible with your PSU. You don’t want to skimp on these!
