Is it a good idea to pair a Ryzen 7 7700 with a GTX 1070 for now?

Hey everyone! I'm wondering if it's okay to pair a Ryzen 7 7700 with an MSI GTX 1070 8GB for the time being. I'm planning to upgrade my DDR4 gaming PC, starting with switching to DDR5 and then eventually getting a solid GPU for 1440p gaming. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

Sounds like a solid plan if you're ready to spend! Don't worry too much about what others say. Just make sure that when you upgrade to a new GPU, you get something that's at least double the performance of the GTX 1070. I found the Ryzen 7 7700 to be a fantastic deal for a budget system—I snagged mine for under $170 six months ago!

It's totally fine to upgrade your system in stages. Before you decide, consider which part might boost your performance the most in the short run. If you're running an older CPU, switching to a better GPU might give you a quicker payoff! Just curious, what CPU are you currently using?
