I just bought a used computer, and it has a drive labeled 'MediaTek' that is taking up 700GB of storage. I'm not sure what it is or if I can safely delete everything on it. Can anyone help me understand this?

It could just be a partition that holds system files or additional software. A good idea would be to reformat the drive to free up space, but make sure to back up anything important first. If you’re uncertain, a local IT pro could help you out!

Exactly! Don’t delete until you're sure. Better safe than sorry!

MediaTek makes a wide range of electronics, so that drive could be anything from drivers to recovery files. It’d be best to check the contents of the drive first. If you can't do that, it might be wise to consult someone with more technical knowledge before deleting anything.

Yeah, definitely take a look before making any moves. You might need that space or some files on there!
