I recently visited a questionable website out of curiosity while using my iPhone 11 Pro. After clicking on a link, a new tab opened with a message claiming, "Your phone now has a virus with adult websites," and there was a pop-up asking for permission to use my camera. I couldn't cancel the pop-up, so I immediately closed Safari and deleted the open tabs. I'm not sure if this was a genuine threat or just a scare tactic. Can anyone provide clarity on this?

Definitely not a virus. It sounds like you encountered a classic scare tactic. The best thing you did was close Safari. If you're still concerned, consider running a security scan or resetting your browser settings.
You're good! That kind of pop-up is usually just scareware designed to freak you out into giving away info or clicking something dangerous. Just make sure to keep your software up to date, and you should be fine.
