Why Does My New RX 9070 XT Look Blurry in Games?

Hey everyone,

I recently made the switch from an RTX 3070 to a new RX 9070 XT, but I'm not seeing the performance improvements I expected. I'm currently running at about 50 fps in Cyberpunk and Kingdom Come: Deliverance at 1440p on ultra without ray tracing. I made sure to uninstall the Nvidia drivers using DDU and installed the AMD Radeon software.

However, something feels off—my games seem blurry and display strange textures, especially in KCD 2 and Black Myth: Wukong. The textures pop in and out, and even distant objects look unclear. I've tried both native resolution and FSR, but the problem persists. I know my system isn't the newest, but I've seen similar setups performing much better. Here are my current specs:

- RX 9070 XT
- Ryzen 5 5600x
- 16GB GDDR4 RAM
- 750w PSU

Any advice on what might be going wrong would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It definitely sounds like something’s off with your card or configuration. I have a 7900 XT, and I get around 140 fps in Cyberpunk at max settings without RT. You might want to check your CPU usage; it could be holding back the RX 9070 XT a bit, but not significantly. Did you completely uninstall the old drivers? Sometimes a fresh driver installation can fix odd issues like this.

Yeah, that's what I noticed online too—it seems really weird!

You might want to uninstall MSI Afterburner if you're using it, as it sometimes causes issues with AMD cards. I recommend monitoring your performance using just Adrenalin or RTSS for clearer stats.

Great advice! I’ll try that and see if things improve.

If you're feeling adventurous, a clean Windows install can resolve any software conflicts. Also, check if XMP is enabled and ensure your GPU is in the top PCIe slot running at full speed. Also look out for power settings in Windows that might be limiting performance.

Honestly, some of that went over my head! I enabled ReBAR, but I’m not sure how to check the other settings.

You might want to turn off Radeon Boost; it caused weird blurriness for me when I had an older card. Also, keep an eye on your RAM usage. 16GB is a bit low these days, so upgrading to 32GB might help overall performance.

Thanks! I’ll definitely look into upgrading the RAM.

There are several things to check here. First, make sure you have two sticks of RAM for dual-channel mode. If you're only using one stick, it could hurt performance. Have you deleted the shader cache for your games? Old shaders from the previous GPU can cause issues. Also, double-check your settings in the Adrenalin software—things like Fluid Motion Frames could impact image quality.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll check that out. I just ordered more RAM.
