What’s the Best CPU Upgrade for My Ryzen 5 1600?

I've had my current setup since 2018, and it's served me well for everyday tasks. My components include an RTX 3070 GPU, a Ryzen 5 1600 (non-AF), an Asrock AB350 Pro4 motherboard, and 32 GB of RAM. I've been out of the loop with updates since I only upgraded my GPU a few years back. I'm now looking for advice on my next steps. I realized my CPU isn't compatible with Windows 11, so I'm considering a swap to a newer Ryzen model, maybe a 5600 or 5700? I have some light to mid gaming needs and I'm wanting to dive back into bigger titles like RDR2 eventually. My monitor supports 1440p at 144Hz, but I often switch between 1080p and 1440p based on the game. I also know I'll need to update my BIOS for the new CPU, and I've checked my motherboard's support page for compatibility. Any help or suggestions would be awesome!

Hey there! Do you have a budget in mind, and have you thought about going for AM5 for a future-proof upgrade? It might be worth it if you plan to keep your rig updated further down the road!

My budget is pretty flexible. I'm just trying to figure out what's appropriate for my current setup. It works well for my needs, so I’m not really inclined to go all out on an AM5 upgrade right now.

Honestly, I’d recommend picking up a Ryzen 5700X. You can usually find them for under $150 and they’re a great deal at that price! Plus, it's a 65W TDP, so your current cooler should handle it perfectly.

Thanks for the suggestion! The 5700X definitely sounds like a solid choice.

I just got a Ryzen 5600X for about £85 used for my AM4 motherboard, and it was much cheaper than trying to upgrade the whole motherboard. It’s a good way to go if you want to avoid hassle with new hardware.
