I'm trying to save up for my first PC since I rely on my allowance, and I have a few questions. First off, is there a big chance I'll mess something up while building it? Honestly, my skills aren't the best! Also, how much should I expect to spend on everything, including all the peripherals? I'm curious if it's worth it to pay extra for 120 fps instead of 60 fps since I plan to play games like Hollow Knight, Silksong, and Celeste, but I'm not into shooters. Lastly, would it be a good idea to buy used parts to save some cash?

For the games you're looking at, you really don't need a super expensive setup. Since they’re 2D, even a basic PC should handle them just fine. From my experience, I didn't find a huge difference when I tested 60 fps vs 120 fps for these kinds of games. Most of the time, the difference is only really noticeable in fast-paced games. For the whole setup, including keyboard, mouse, and monitor, you're looking at around 600 AUD, which should be about 400 USD. As for used parts, while I've never bought them personally, it might depend on how confident you feel. There’s a low risk of damaging something during the build if you take your time, and I've clumsily built my PC without breaking anything.
Thanks for the info! That sounds more affordable than I thought. I might actually be able to get there before 2027!
