I'm looking into RAM options for my 9800X3D build with an ASUS B850-G motherboard. The common recommendation seems to be the 6000 CL30 configuration, but honestly, I'm not a fan of how most of those kits look. I recently came across the Lexar 6400 CL32 kit, which I find much more aesthetically pleasing. Although theoretically, they should perform similarly—both being ~10 ns based on my calculations—I'm curious if this holds true in real-world usage, especially given feedback suggesting that with the 9800X3D's large cache, CAS latency might be less crucial. Can anyone shed light on how much of a performance hit I might face going with 6400 CL32 instead?

Going for DDR5-6400 could actually slow down your system since it defaults to an uncore frequency of 1600 MHz. You might have to manually adjust the settings to get that back to a 1:1 ratio, which can be a hassle. I'd recommend sticking with the DDR5-6000 CL30 kit for better efficiency without the extra tweaking needed.
