I'm looking to upgrade my PC since it's been a while, and I could use some guidance. Currently, I have an RX 580 8GB GPU, 16GB of 3200 DDR4 RAM, an i3-12100F CPU, and a Gigabyte H610M motherboard. I'm considering upgrading to something like an RTX 4070 along with an i7-11700, but I'm uncertain if this combination will be optimal. Also, what kind of cooling does the i7-11700 require? I'd prefer to avoid water cooling if possible. My budget for the GPU is around $800 and for the CPU, about $350. Lastly, is the 1700 socket still a decent choice for 2025?

With your current motherboard, you might have a tough time making a substantial upgrade because the VRMs just aren't great. It's worth considering a motherboard upgrade first to really take advantage of the newer components you want to get.
So if I get a new motherboard, what socket would be a good choice for future-proofing?
