Hey everyone! I have a 2020 MacBook Air that I bought in August 2023 for $750, but my cat accidentally knocked it off my dresser and now the screen is busted. I got a repair quote from Apple for $448, which makes me wonder if it's worth it since the laptop is already 5 years old. On the other hand, I could buy a new one for $1,050 or the same model for $650 (brand new in box). I mostly use my laptop for writing and checking emails; nothing too heavy. What do you think? Should I go for the repair, buy the same model, or opt for a new one? I'd appreciate your thoughts!

Honestly, I wouldn't go for the repair or getting the same model at this point. The $448 just doesn’t seem worth it for an older laptop. If the specs of the new one for $1,050 are better, it's probably a better investment. But if you're mainly doing basic tasks, you might want to consider a non-Apple laptop altogether!
If you're looking to squeeze a bit more life out of your Air, I'd recommend checking for someone who can install an aftermarket screen. It's likely cheaper than the Apple quote. However, if you're okay moving on, selling it for parts could give you some cash to put toward a new laptop.
Thanks for breaking that down! That's exactly the clarity I needed.
