I'm building my first PC, and I've got a choice between the 5070 with 12GB of VRAM and the 5060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM, both priced at $610. I'm primarily focusing on multiplayer gaming, but I might use it for work occasionally too. I'm also looking for advice on what CPU would pair nicely with either GPU without causing any bottlenecks. Here's my current build plan:
- GPU: Either 5070 12GB or 5060 Ti 16GB
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AM5
- CPU Cooler: Montech Hyperflow 360 Liquid Cooler
- Power Supply: Corsair RM650e 650W
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32GB
- SSD: Silicon Power 2TB
- Case: Montech XR

What’s your budget? And what frame rate and resolution are you targeting? The 5070 is ideal for 1080p or 1440p gaming. Also, if you stick with the Ryzen 7 7700X, it's a perfect match for either GPU without causing bottlenecks. Just make sure your case can fit all your components properly!
If you're looking at the price of $610, definitely go for the 5070! It's nearly 40% faster and worth the investment. Your build looks solid too; it seems like you're on track for a great performance setup! I built something similar for my son, and he's enjoying the combo of the 5070 and Ryzen 7 without issues. Good luck with your build!
The 5070 is significantly faster than the 5060 Ti, but the latter has more VRAM. If you're just playing multiplayer games, the performance boost from the 5070 is more beneficial because you can get higher frame rates. Plus, most multiplayer games don't require that much VRAM, so the extra 4GB in the 5060 Ti won't be necessary unless you're planning on playing ultra-setting single-player games in the future. Given your usage, the 5070 is the better choice here!
My budget is around $1600. I mostly play at 1080p and 1440p. I'm hoping the 7700X will work well with either GPU since it's on sale right now.
