What’s the best way to protect my gaming PC from power outages on a budget?

Hey everyone! I finally got my hands on a proper gaming PC, but I live in an area where power outages happen frequently, sometimes just for a few seconds. I recently had a scare when my PC wouldn't turn on after some rain, and I really want to prevent any damage to my expensive setup. I haven't lost any devices to power surges before, but I can't afford to risk it.

I'm looking for effective surge protectors under $50 because I can't swing a UPS right now. I've been looking around, but there are just too many options and I'm feeling a bit lost. Any recommendations on what to buy to keep my PC safe?

A solid surge protector should cost you less than $50 and will help protect your computer from power spikes. Just remember, unlike a UPS, surge protectors won’t keep your machine running during an outage—they only protect against power surges, not power loss. So it’s a good temporary fix, but you might want to get a UPS eventually for those outages.

Exactly! Just keep in mind that while a surge protector helps, it won’t save you during a blackout. Always a good idea to save towards a UPS as well!

For under $50, a good surge protector is your best bet for now. Just steer clear of generic brands and opt for something from a reputable company. If you can, look for surge protectors with a joule rating of 2000 or higher – the more joules, the better protection you'll get against surges. Don't forget to save up for a UPS in the future, though, as it's really worth it to keep your components safe long-term!
