Are RTX 5070s a Risk Due to Hotspots?

I'm considering buying an nVidia RTX 5070 graphics card for my new PC build, but I've recently come across a report mentioning that RTX 5000-series cards can develop 'hotspots' reaching temperatures of up to 100°C. This has made me question whether I should steer clear of the 5000-series, or if I could still be safe by sticking with reputable brands like ASUS or MSI. What do you think?

Honestly, you could overthink this until you talk yourself out of buying anything. The 'hotspot' news just came out, and if you wait, there will always be another report that makes you second-guess your choice. Just don’t stress too much about it.

The 5070 might not even be the best pick for you, hotspot worries aside. It’s not a great value for what you get. But if you're fixed on it, I wouldn’t stress too much about the hotspot issue—it's probably overblown.

Just a heads up, in the UK, 5070s are selling for about 10% below MSRP right now, which might make it a decent deal!
