I've got this co-worker who's a huge Linux fan and really insists that I switch from using Windows + WSL to Linux for programming. He argues that coding on Windows makes me a less secure and bug-prone developer, which I think is completely absurd. Plus, I mean, WSL is basically just Linux, right? It works great for me! I want to politely get him to stop pressuring me about this without causing any drama at work or hurting his feelings. Any suggestions?

Maybe suggest doing a code review together? It could be a fun way for him to show you how Linux could improve things. You could say something like, "Let’s see if your Linux magic really makes a difference!"
Or, just be upfront and say, "I'm not really interested in switching to Linux right now, thanks!"
You might try saying, "I’m using Linux already, just in a different way than you!" This could diffuse things a bit. If he keeps going on about it, just shrug and say, "Works for me!"
This seems more like a workplace issue than a tech one. Honestly, you might just need to tell him you're not keen on discussing Linux all the time. A simple "I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I prefer working this way" could work.
Honestly, sometimes the best option is just ignoring the noise. If you’re happy with your setup, focus on your work, and let him have his Linux soapbox moment without engaging.
Totally! Just roll your eyes internally and keep doing you.
Right! Less drama means more coding time, right?
If it comes down to it, you could ask him to back up his claims about security issues with clear examples. That might make him think twice about his stance.
Exactly! Put the ball in his court; that might shut him up.
But be careful not to make it a fight. Just keep it chill.
Sounds like you might have to push back a little. Get him to show you actual examples of when Windows has hurt him in the past.
