Is the 5060ti 16GB a Smart Upgrade from My 1070?

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU from a 1070 to a 5060ti 16GB to better match my Ryzen 5 7600 system, which has 32GB of RAM and a 650W PSU. I use my PC for gaming, video editing, 3D modeling/texturing, and light game development with programs like Substance Painter and Blender. Currently, I game at 1080p. On paper, the 5060ti seems like a great fit, but I'd love to hear your opinions before I make this purchase. It's about £400, while the 5070 is over £500 but has less VRAM.

Definitely a solid choice for your needs! Upgrading from a 1070 to a 5060ti will give you a significant performance boost. It should handle gaming and creative work at 1080p really well.

I have a similar setup to yours, and for the right price, the 5060ti 16GB is definitely a wise pick! It even beats some higher-tier cards in 3D software benchmarks, making it a great option for productivity tasks, too.

I just upgraded from an ancient 970 to a Zotac 5060ti 16GB, and it's been awesome! I'm running AAA games smoothly at 1080p. I can't provide specific 3D rendering performance metrics yet, but it's like a whole new experience compared to my old card!

Make sure to check your monitor too; you might want to upgrade to a higher refresh rate one for those smooth gameplay vibes!

I’m also curious about how much bottlenecking occurs if I throw a 5060ti into a much older rig. Anyone tried that?

Totally, great investment! But I suggest considering upgrading to 1440p as well; you'll be able to fully utilize that GPU's power, especially for gaming. The performance jump will feel massive, like going from a PS3 to a PS5!

I second that! I upgraded to a 1440p monitor after moving from a 3060 ti to a 5060ti, and the difference has been unbeatable.

I’m considering the upgrade to 1440p too! Looks like it's worth the investment.

What's the going rate for the RX9070? I’m curious how it compares.

It’s about £550 to £600 around these parts.
