Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a PC and I've decided to go with DDR4 RAM (I know, DDR5 is out, but I've heard boot times can be an issue). I'm trying to figure out if I should use 2x16GB sticks as recommended for DDR5, or if I can use 4x8GB sticks for DDR4 without any significant downsides. What do you all think?

Generally, 2x16GB sticks are better for performance compared to 4x8GB. Having fewer sticks means less strain on the memory controller, which usually leads to better stability and overclocking potential. However, it really depends on your specific needs and setup!

Not always the case. If you're using dual-rank sticks, you can actually get similar performance with 4x8GB, as it allows for interleaving. Just be mindful of what type of sticks you’re using.
