Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my CPU since I've realized my current setup is a bit of a bottleneck. Here's my system configuration:
- Ryzen 5 3600
- Gigabyte 2070 Super
- Corsair 48 GB RAM DDR4 (2x16 and 2x8)
- AsRock x470 Taichi
I've also got an old AIO cooler (5.5 years), and I'm looking to replace it with either a Thermalright Phantom Spirit or a Peerless Assassin.
My main question is, do you think it's worth it to upgrade to the Ryzen 7 5700X for around $120? I want to hold off for the AM6 before investing in a whole new rig, and I'd like to avoid spending over $300 on the 5700X3D or $400-$500 on an AM5 upgrade and the hassle of a new motherboard. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 😊

Definitely a solid upgrade! If your motherboard supports it, just go for it. Also, consider updating the BIOS now while you're still on the 3600—it's a good move before you switch CPUs. One less headache later!
Thanks for the tip on the BIOS! I hadn't thought of that—really good call. Quick question: do you think the CPU coolers I mentioned will handle the 5700X? I've seen conflicting reviews.
