I'm building my first PC and I don't have much experience with hardware. My main games will be Stardew Valley and The Sims, which I know will run great, but I'd like to have the option to play more demanding games down the line. Do you think the Ryzen 5 9600X CPU will work well with the RX 9600 XT GPU?

Yep, the 9600X is quite capable for modern gaming.
Yes, this is a solid entry-level combo. If you want to keep it upgradable and save money in the long run, I recommend getting a B850 motherboard, a quality 750W or 850W PSU, and 32GB of CL30 6000 RAM. This way, you'll only need to upgrade the CPU or GPU eventually, and you can survive with just a GPU upgrade for a while.
I'm actually building a PC with that setup right now. Well, not literally while I type this, but I am in the process!
Absolutely, that's a pretty popular and solid pairing. You'll have a great time with those games and a decent potential for more demanding titles.
Indeed!
For sure! Just make sure you're getting the 16GB version of the 9060 XT. It's better for longevity since more demanding games require more VRAM.
It’s worth noting that your computer might be using the integrated GPU instead of the RX 3070. Also, make sure to check your settings; sometimes, my frame rate can dip below 30 FPS for some weird reason at startup, which is a bug I need to sort out.
Definitely! The 9600X is pretty much the standard for most gaming rigs right now.
Hope it goes well!!
