Should I Choose the 7600X or 9600X for My New PC Build?

I'm looking to build a new PC today and am trying to decide between the 7600X and 9600X processors. My current plan is to game at 1080p using a 3050 GPU for now, but I want to upgrade the GPU in about 3 to 5 years when bigger titles like GTA 6 are released. The differences in cost between the 7600X and 9600X are around 5,000 rupees, and 70,000 for a 7700X. However, the 3050 is really my budget max right now with a 750W PSU. I'm located in India and currently, I've been gaming on a laptop with games like Dota 2, WoW, and AoE2, but I'm hoping to expand my library to include games like WarTales and GTA 6 with a future GPU upgrade. It's also worth mentioning that I'm considering the used market for GPUs instead of sticking with the 3050. Any advice on whether it makes more sense to invest in the 7600X or 9600X?

Honestly, I think any of the CPUs you mentioned (7500F, 7600X, or 9600X) will serve you well at your current level. But seriously, don't go for the 3050—it won't last you through 2025 for gaming. It might be worth waiting a little longer and saving for something like the 9060XT or 5060Ti 16GB, which would be way better for your upgrade path. Just a heads up!

You really think the 3050 won't work for games like WoW or Dota 2? My buddy runs those on an RX 570 with no issues.

In the end, avoiding any Nvidia xx50 card would save you heartache. They're just not worth it. Save up a bit more and look at the 9600X with a solid GPU upgrade instead. You’ll be happier long term!

I get where you’re coming from. I’ll explore the used market. Thanks for the advice!

If you're waiting for GTA VI, I'd say just grab a console. The 9600X is showing better power consumption and is getting cheaper too. Both the 7600X and 9600X are solid picks without wrecking your budget. Skip the 3050; it’s overhyped and underperforms.

You're right about money, but should I just wait for the 9500F then? It might fit my budget better.

I chose the 9600X for my build, and I'm planning to upgrade my GPU later as well. It offers better future-proofing, especially with CPU-heavy games. If you can find good deals, I say go for it. You won’t regret it!

Thanks! I'm also eyeing the 9500F, but I keep leaning towards the 9600X.

The difference between 7600X and 9600X is pretty minimal; you're right there. But I’d skip the 3050—it’s just not worth it from a long-term perspective. You're in the right ballpark, but keep an eye out for budget options like the 7700 from ali-express.

My budget is around 1,10,000 rupees, and I need everything from a monitor to a UPS included. Any recommendations?
