Should I be worried about threats to leak my personal info from a player?

I hope this is the right place to post this. I was just having a good time playing Roblox with a friend when a player got upset and started messing around. He added me on Discord, which I thought was okay since I've done that before, but then things took a weird turn. He somehow revealed my email linked to my Roblox account and threatened to leak my information. He didn't specify what he had, but it made me uneasy. Since then, I've turned off my PC's Wi-Fi, changed my Gmail password using a different device, deleted all my saved passwords, and set up two-factor authentication. Now I'm wondering if I should be worried about anything else or if there's more I can do to protect myself. Plus, he sent me my first name along with some random accounts I own, which just raises more concerns for me.

You should definitely consider how public your usernames are. If you use the same username across multiple accounts, it's easier for someone to link them. Just make sure to vary your usernames and not use personal information in them!

Yeah, I think he might have connected the dots from my old Duolingo account where I used my first name.

I wouldn't jump to calling the police just yet unless he harasses you more. But definitely check into online harassment laws in your area. It's good to know your options if it gets worse.

That’s a fair point. I was trying to avoid the drama but after his last message I’m reconsidering my options.

Keep documentation of everything. If he keeps bothering you, you might want to get evidence like logs or use something like Wireshark to track his IP. If it escalates, you can take that to the police to show what he’s up to.

That sounds smart. I hadn’t thought of using Wireshark but I’ll look into it.

Honestly, you might just want to step back for a bit. This guy will likely move on to target someone else if he doesn't get a reaction from you.

Thanks! I’m planning to take a break from gaming for a little while.
