I recently splurged on a Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X and now I'm on the hunt for a suitable AM4 CPU to go with it. While I'm aware that upgrading to AM5 is probably the better long-term option, I've heard that many AM4 CPUs can still handle high-end GPUs pretty well. What would you recommend?

Before you decide, it might help to know what CPU you're currently using. That way, you'll know if an upgrade to a different AM4 chip is even worth it.
If you're looking to stick with AM4 for now, the Ryzen 5700X3D or 5800X3D are solid contenders. They should pair nicely with your 7900 XTX without bottlenecking it. Just keep in mind that the upgrade path to AM5 will be a consideration later on.
If you're considering future-proofing, the Ryzen 5 7500F with the MSI Pro A620M-E motherboard is a fantastic budget combo for gaming in 2025. It provides solid performance without burning a hole in your wallet. Otherwise, a Ryzen 9 7900X paired with a Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX is a solid mid-range build if you’re looking to spend a bit more.
The 5700X3D is great, but good luck finding it at a decent price. I wouldn’t go above $150 for one. The 5600, 5700, or 5800X are also fine options and may be easier to grab. Just make sure to check current prices!
