Why is my UPS beeping randomly, and how can I stop it?

I've got a UPS that my company sent, but I haven't used it in ages since I always use my laptop. It's just been sitting in a box, not plugged in, with no devices attached, and suddenly it starts beeping randomly at all sorts of times. The number of beeps and the time intervals are totally inconsistent. I tried plugging it in and turning it on, thinking it might need charging, but the beeping continues. It's really annoying, especially since I live in a small apartment, and it's ruining my sleep! I'm not very tech-savvy and didn't get a manual with it, so I'm confused about what's going on. The beeping light is green, too. Any help would be appreciated!

It could also be that there's an internal problem. Sometimes UPS units will beep if there's damage or a fault inside. If you're still having trouble after trying a reset, sending it back might be the best option. Hopefully, your manager gets back to you soon because no one should have to deal with sleepless nights due to a beeping UPS!

Thanks for the tips! I'm really hoping the reset works because I can't take much more of this!

That sounds really frustrating! Random beeping from a UPS can happen for a few reasons, but since it’s not plugged in and hasn’t been used, it could be due to a low battery or internal fault. If you haven't already, try unplugging it and removing the battery (if it's removable) for a few minutes, then put it back in and plug it in again. That might reset it and stop the beeping, at least temporarily. If it doesn’t work, you might want to reach out for a replacement once your manager gets back to you.

That's a good idea! I had a similar issue with mine, and a reset worked wonders. Fingers crossed it helps!
