Why does my laptop randomly shut down when I play games?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my laptop shutting down unexpectedly, especially when I try to play games like Roblox and Tlauncher. It doesn't show a blue screen or crash; it just turns off completely. When I checked the Task Manager, I noticed that my CPU and Disk usage often hit 100%, with high usage from the Microsoft Office SDX Helper, 'System', and the Anti-malware service executable. I've tried different fixes I found online, but nothing seems to work. Here are my specs:

- CPU: AMD Radeon(TM) R2 Graphics
- GPU: AMD Radeon(TM) R2 Graphics
- Disk: HDD (150GB)
- OS: Windows 11 (using Legacy mode, as my laptop isn't UEFI compatible)

Recently, I discovered that reinstalling Roblox seems to trigger the shutdowns and spikes my disk usage back to 100%. I'm looking for any suggestions or solutions to this problem!

You should check if there are any drivers that need updating, especially for your graphics card. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause crashes during gaming. Additionally, you could also lower the settings in Roblox to see if that eases the load on your system.

I’ll try updating the drivers and see if it helps with the performance!

Have you looked into your storage? Since your HDD is only 150GB, if it’s almost full, that could slow down your laptop. Aim to free up some space and also consider running a disk check. Sometimes file system errors can cause issues too.

That makes sense! I should probably clean up some files. Thanks for the advice!

It sounds like your laptop might be overheating, which is a common issue for many laptops, especially when gaming. Make sure that the vents are not blocked and consider using a cooling pad to help with airflow. You might also want to check if there’s any dust buildup inside that needs cleaning. If your CPU temperature is too high, it’s likely causing those shutdowns to prevent damage.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll check the vents and maybe clean it up a bit.
