How can I get Siri to set an alarm for a specific time later?

I'm really frustrated with Siri on my new iPhone. On my old iPhone 8, I could easily ask Siri to set an alarm for a certain amount of time later, like saying, 'Siri, set an alarm for half an hour from now.' It would set the alarm perfectly for that time, like 5:30 if it was 5:00. However, on my new device, when I try to do the same thing, Siri just keeps setting a timer instead of an alarm! I often use this feature when I'm half-asleep, and I don't want to wake up my screen. I just want an alarm, not a timer, since timers can't be snoozed and alarms can't be accidentally turned off while they're running on the Lock Screen. I've tried different ways to get Siri to set an alarm for a future time, like asking what time it would be 20 minutes from now and then trying to set an alarm for that time, but it keeps responding with 'setting a timer.' Has Siri stopped understanding this task? Any advice on how to fix this?

It might be that adding 'from now' is confusing Siri. Try skipping that part and see if it makes a difference!

In my experience, Siri in other languages works fine with alarms versus timers. Maybe you could try changing your language settings to see if it helps clarify the commands!

Yeah, I noticed the same issue! It seems like Siri on iOS 26 has only gotten better at setting alarms if you give a specific clock time. Asking for 30 minutes from now just defaults to a timer now. A workaround could be to ask Siri the time first, and then set the alarm for that time. Not perfect, but it’s something!

Haha, sounds like you’re having a little comedy routine with Siri! I tested it too, and it seems like Siri is only acknowledging the exact time now. You might try just asking for the time first, then set an alarm for that. Not ideal, but it could work!

You might not be expecting this, but you can just say, 'Set an alarm for [the exact time]' instead. Sometimes specifying the exact time helps Siri get the right idea!

I don’t know why it’s not working for you; I tried it, and it sets an alarm every time! Maybe there's a glitch specific to your setup?
