Can I Mix Different RAM Sizes on a MAG X670 Tomahawk Motherboard?

I'm currently using a MAG X670 Tomahawk motherboard with 32GB of GSkill Trident Neo DDR5 RAM (2x16GB with CL30). I'm considering upgrading by adding another 64GB (2x32GB) RAM sticks. Would this work, or would I run into issues?

It's recommended to use matching RAM for the best performance. Even if it technically works, you could face lower speeds and instability. Consider swapping out the old sticks altogether for better results.

I thought using matching RAM meant keeping them in the same channel, but could I mix pairs across different channels?

Using four DDR5 sticks might limit your speeds, likely under 5000 MT/s. I'd suggest buying two sticks of whatever capacity you want instead of mixing. This way, you avoid potential compatibility issues.

Looks like I'll aim for 64GB as 2 sticks then, thanks for the heads up!

You can mix RAM sizes, but you might encounter speed issues. The speeds could drop significantly, and stability might become a concern. If you can, it’s often better to replace the older sticks with new, matching ones.

Does it matter if they're paired in their respective channels?
