Can Cropped Photos Be Restored After Uploading?

Hi everyone! I recently sent some cropped photos to ChatGPT, and I'm a bit anxious about the possibility of a data breach. The originals were of my face and body, and I'm worried that the full photos could be recovered somehow. I ask because I've heard that the original images can be restored on iPhones after cropping. Does that mean the original data is always embedded in the cropped images? Any insights would be appreciated—thanks!

It's generally a good idea to be cautious about uploading personal photos online. The original images aren't accessible once cropped and uploaded, especially since they only exist within the Photos app. So, realistically, big tech companies likely wouldn’t bother trying to recover your original photos, but it's wise to minimize risks. For future reference, it's safer to take a screenshot of the cropped image before sending it out.

So, I can't really recover the original photo if a data breach happens? That's a relief to hear, but I was seriously stressing out about that. Thanks for clearing it up!
