I'm sharing an Apple ID with my wife and it's causing some issues for us. I'm aware of Apple's family sharing options, but I'm wondering what the process is for creating my own Apple ID. If I log out of my current account and set up a new one, will I need to redownload all my apps? What about my photos and contacts—will I still have access to them?

If you log out and create a new Apple ID, keep in mind that your current apps, photos, and contacts won't automatically transfer over. Make sure to enable iCloud Photos to sync your images before logging out, and back up your contacts to avoid losing them. After you set up family sharing, you'll still have access to any apps or subscriptions previously purchased. Some apps might need redownloading, but the good news is you won’t have to pay for them again if family sharing is set up properly.
So if things go wrong, can I just switch back to my old account? That seems like an easy fallback.
