Why does my PC keep shutting down while gaming?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my PC shutting down unexpectedly while I game. It just powers off completely and then restarts after some time. I've tried a bunch of things to fix it:

- Cleaning the inside of the PC and all the fans to remove dust.
- Keeping all drivers updated to the latest versions.
- Reconnecting both the GPU and CPU power cables.
- Taking out the CPU, cleaning it, and reapplying thermal paste in a cross pattern.
- Resetting my PC to factory settings.

Interestingly, it seems to shut off right around when my CPU hits 80°C, but I'm not sure if that's a direct cause. My GPU gets to about 67°C when this happens. This problem started months ago, and since then, I've struggled to do what I want on my computer. Here are my specs:

- OS: Windows 10, version 10.0.19045
- CPU: 8 core Intel i7-9700 @ 3.00GHz
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060
- RAM: 16 GB
- Motherboard: ASUS Prime H310M-K R2.0
- Fans: 4 case fans, 1 CPU fan, and 2 GPU fans
- PSU: 550 Watts

I'm hoping someone can suggest what else I might try, or give me some ideas that I haven't thought of yet!

Have you checked the power settings in Windows? Sometimes, the system might power down due to power settings if it thinks it’s overheating or under heavy load. Additionally, try monitoring your temperatures with software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to see how they behave in real-time. That way, you might be able to catch it before it crashes!

It sounds like it could be a power supply issue or possibly a thermal problem. Make sure your PSU is solid; a 550-watt unit should generally be fine, but if it's older or has been stressed, it might not be up to the task anymore. Also, check your cooling setup—if your CPU is hitting 80°C, that’s pretty hot, and maybe just cleaning isn't enough. You might need to look into better cooling solutions or even replacing thermal paste again just to be sure. Good luck!
