Is My Google Maps App Glitching or Am I Just Paranoid?

I was driving today and noticed something weird. After looking at my phone settings (you know, swiping down to check Wi-Fi and mobile data), an image started flashing on my screen. It even replaced the Google Maps view when I opened the app! I quit the app and reopened it, and the weird image was gone. Now, I'm worried that someone might have access to my phone. Is this a common vulnerability with Google Maps, or should I be concerned? I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10.

Did you install or side-load any new apps recently? This kind of behavior can sometimes come from shady apps. Also, consider using free Adguard Public DNS for some added security.

Nope, I haven’t installed anything new recently. What’s this Adguard Public DNS you mentioned?

Have you tried uninstalling the app or switching to a different one, like Waze? Sometimes just resetting things can help.

Yeah, I disabled it for now. It didn't pop up again when I opened it later, but I'm still worried that just seeing it once might indicate something else is wrong.

That sounds more like a random glitch than actual hacking. Hacking usually doesn't manifest like that. What kind of image did you see?

SunnySkies84 -

It was an inappropriate image.

No, you weren't hacked. Google Maps wasn't hacked either. It sounds like you're just overthinking it a bit.

Okay, but I want to understand why that image showed up. I called it 'Google maps hacked' because I thought it was the best way to describe it.
