Hey there! I'm a total newbie and primarily use my PC for playing games on Steam. I only have an Nvidia graphics card, and I'm considering switching from Windows 11 to Linux in 2025. What do you think? Is it a worthwhile switch? What are the pros and cons I should consider?

Honestly, if you’re mainly gaming, I'd recommend dual-booting Windows and Linux. It gives you the best of both worlds. You can run almost any game you want on Windows and still enjoy the benefits of Linux!
Yes! I've made the jump to Linux and haven’t looked back since. In general, the Nvidia drivers have improved a lot lately, and while some games might require a bit of fiddling, most work great. Just be aware that some online games with strict anti-cheat systems won't run.
It really depends on the games you plan to play. If they run well on Linux, you might be fine. However, some games use kernel-level anti-cheat, which won't work on Linux. So if your favorites are in that category, you might want to stick with Windows for now.
I switched to Linux with a 4090, and while there is a performance drop in some DirectX 12 games, for the majority, the difference hasn't bothered me much. I just wanted to get away from Windows, and honestly, I've got so many games in my library that it's been worth it for me!
For the casual gamer, I'd say go for it! Linux has come a long way, especially with regards to gaming. Just check ProtonDB to see if your games are compatible. But keep Windows for anything that requires complex anti-cheat systems or for a smoother experience with certain titles.
Why did you choose Arch? What do you like about it?
