I've got an APC SRT8KXLI UPS that I need to either sell or dispose of since my studio closed down. Unfortunately, I can't access the required power outlet, and the batteries seem to be dead, although I don't see any corrosion. The last service was in 2022, and everything was functioning then based on a report attached to the unit. I'm looking for suggestions on how to get this powered on, so I can print a system report, and I'm also curious if there's an external battery hookup option. I've reached out to some local refurbishment vendors in Southern California; they might be interested in it. Any thoughts or ideas on how I can go about this? Thanks!

If you want to try getting it powered on, confirm you have the right power input. If the batteries are completely dead, you can often order replacements and try connecting them to see if the unit awakens. It's essential, though, to be cautious and consider professional assistance if you're unsure about hooking it up. Otherwise, putting it for sale and offering it for local pickup might be the easiest and safest option.
First, make sure you have the correct model number. The SRT8KXLI is suitable for 220-240V setups, while the SRT8KXLT is for the US market. Since you're in SoCal, check that you really have the I version. Powering it on involves hardwiring, which requires an electrician unless you're willing to do some risky DIY. For disposal, consider selling it to a commercial equipment buyer who can test it, or list it on eBay as 'sold as seen, buyer collects'. That way, you might find someone willing to take it off your hands even in its current state. Also, you can access the user manual for more details on setup and options.
Thanks for clarifying the model differences! It sounds like selling it to a specialist is a good approach. I bet there are folks out there who can use it or repair it.
