Hey everyone! I've been having an annoying problem where my PC just shuts off almost instantly when I start playing games—like within the first two minutes. I've checked the temperatures, and neither my CPU nor GPU goes over 65 degrees Celsius, so I'm not worried about overheating. I've also restored my RAM to its stock speed and updated both the GPU driver and BIOS to the latest versions. However, the shutdown happens out of nowhere—it's like someone unplugged it. Interestingly, it usually occurs when I click on something in the game, like hitting the play button in Counter-Strike or selecting a map icon in The Outer Worlds. I'm starting to suspect it might be the power supply unit (PSU). It's been around for about 11 years, but it's a quality PSU. Here are my specs: CPU: AMD 5600, Motherboard: ROG Strix B450-F, GPU: XFX SPEEDSTER SWIFT 6700xt, RAM: 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4, SSD: WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB, PSU: EVGA Supernova Gold 650W. It sounds like it could definitely be a PSU issue. When a PC shuts down suddenly like that, it’s commonly related to the power supply. I'd suggest swapping it out to see if that fixes the problem. From what I've seen, it’s the main culprit about 90% of the time.
I’ve had similar issues in the past, especially with AMD setups. Running four sticks of RAM can cause instability sometimes. You might want to test your system with just two sticks of RAM and see if it shuts down again. If it does, then definitely look into replacing that PSU.
