Is Linux a Good Choice for Creatives with NVIDIA GPUs?

Hey everyone! I'm really frustrated with Windows lately; it just feels distracting and not enjoyable to use. I'm actually a fan of macOS, but my desktop is stuck on Windows, which I want to change. I do a lot of creative work like image editing, digital drawing, video editing, and 3D modeling (mainly using Cinema 4D). The catch is that I have an NVIDIA GPU, and I've come across mixed opinions regarding how well Linux manages NVIDIA drivers. So, I'm curious:

- How reliable is Linux as a primary operating system for someone who relies on NVIDIA?
- Can I expect it to be stable enough for my creative projects, or will I be dealing with constant driver headaches?
- Would you recommend Linux for someone seeking a distraction-free and productive environment for professional creative tasks?

Any personal experiences, distro recommendations, or useful tips would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot!

I’ve got a 3060 and run Blender without issues on Fedora. Most NVIDIA setups work well if you choose the right distro. Just remember that some Adobe apps have no Linux support, so you might need alternatives which can take some getting used to.

For sure! I've found Krita and GIMP to be solid alternatives for image editing.

Blender is fantastic though, so you're covered on that front!

I dual boot between Fedora and Windows with an RTX 5080. Honestly, the Linux drivers have been more reliable than Windows ones in my experience, especially compared to all the bugs I keep running into with Windows. It's refreshing!

I've been using Linux with an NVIDIA GPU and it's been great for me! People often exaggerate the problems. Just pick a good distro, and you'll be fine!

Totally agree! I was worried too but found it works just fine. Just dive in!

Yeah, I've had a good time with it too. Just get something user-friendly!
