What should I do about my iPhone replacement that I didn’t have to send back?

I recently pre-ordered the iPhone 17 Pro but found scratches on it after a couple of days. After contacting Apple, they offered a replacement, but they initially said I need to return my current phone first. However, since I can't get to an Apple Store for about a month, they agreed to hold a phone for me. Recently, I received a notification that Apple is sending me a replacement iPhone 17 Pro without requiring the original back, and there's no charge on my card. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what I should do next.

It's best to contact Apple and clarify the situation. They might have a policy in place that requires you to return the original device, and you could get charged if you don't follow through.

Yeah, I wouldn't take that risk. If they realize the original hasn't been returned, you might be in trouble.

Just a heads up, if you don’t return your original iPhone within a month, Apple's system will automatically charge you for it. Better sort this out soon!

Good point, I didn't think about that! Definitely better to call them sooner rather than later.

I recommend printing out all the email communications about the replacement and taking them to the nearest Apple Store along with the original phone when you can. Make sure to get a receipt for the return!
