I'm looking to upgrade my gaming setup, and I have a bit of extra cash. Right now, I'm using a Ryzen 5 7500F paired with an RTX 5060 Ti and playing at 1440p. I'm usually getting over 90 FPS in Helldivers 2, and over 120 FPS with Smooth Motion enabled. To improve my FPS without having to mess with the settings, should I go for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D or the RTX 5070 Ti? In Malaysia, the 9800X3D goes for RM2200 (about $548), while the 5070 Ti is priced at RM3800 (around $930). Thanks for any insights!

Honestly, I'm not sure either option is worth the cash for your situation, especially since Helldivers uses lag as a game mechanic. But if you're thinking about pure performance, the 5070 Ti would definitely outperform the 9800X3D, although it might bottleneck in your current setup.
It really depends on the game you're playing. For Helldivers 2, I think you'll get more benefit from upgrading your CPU. When I upgraded from a 5700X3D, my 5070 Ti started getting bottlenecked in that game.
Honestly, you should consider doing a quick test. Lower your resolution to 1080p but keep all other settings the same. If your FPS doesn’t change much, it suggests your CPU is the bottleneck. If there’s a significant FPS jump, then your GPU is the issue.
This is super helpful advice! I appreciate it and will definitely try that.
Also, while playing, monitor your GPU utilization. If it’s hitting 100% constantly, then it’s time for a GPU upgrade. But if it’s around 80%, then a CPU upgrade could increase your FPS.
You might actually need both upgrades. If you’re hitting a CPU limit, your GPU won't be fully utilized, which means less performance. Ideally, you want your GPU running at max capacity before the CPU. If you're focused on maximizing performance, I’d recommend the 5070 Ti along with a nice CPU like the 9700X or the 7800X3D.

Yeah, that's surprising since the 5700X3D costs more than the 7500F!
