I built my PC back in 2020, and I'm finding that my RTX 2070 Super isn't handling newer games very well. I'm looking to upgrade my GPU soon, but I plan to stick with my i7 10700K for another year or two. I'm mainly gaming at 1440p and want something that can deliver a solid performance without completely bottlenecking due to my CPU. What GPU would you recommend?

I previously had a 10600K and upgraded from a 3070 to a 9070 XT, but my CPU was still a bottleneck in modern games. You might want to lock in a decent GPU and upgrade your CPU platform soon after, or consider grabbing a second-hand Ampere GPU like the 3080 Ti if you find a good deal.

The RX 9060XT 16GB is probably your best bet for strong performance without being heavily held back by your CPU. Going for something faster might lead to you not fully utilizing it, which feels like a waste of money.

I've got an overclocked 8700K paired with a 5070 Ti OC. My CPU rarely exceeds 75% usage even in demanding games or VR titles like Ready or Not, so it seems like a good combo, very capable overall.

If your budget allows, going for a 50 series GPU would be a solid choice for performance improvements.

If you're mainly playing recent single-player games at 1440p, you should be fine without worrying too much about your CPU bottlenecking. I'd recommend looking into the AMD 9700XT, NVIDIA 5070 Ti, or the 5070, as they should give you a good boost in performance.

Did you mean the 9070XT instead of 9700XT?

I'm not aiming for max settings—just decent FPS at mid to high. Games like Borderlands 4 have been a struggle for me; I’m getting under 60 FPS even at 1080p!
