Help! My Laptop is Stuck on a BIOS Update for Over 24 Hours!

I'm in a bit of a bind here. My laptop is currently stuck on a BIOS update and it's been at 12% completion for over 24 hours now. The screen displays the Insyde H20FFT (Flash Firmware Tool) information, with details like the current BIOS version being 1.10.0 and the new version supposed to be 1.14.2. I really need this laptop working for school, and I'm super anxious about unplugging it for fear of completely bricking the device. What should I do?

Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can do right now. However, according to your user manual, there may be a BIOS recovery option. Try disconnecting the power cable and letting the battery drain completely. This might reset things. Also, check this helpful link for guidance: [link].

At this point, it seems like it's stuck. Honestly, whether you wait or power it off, you might end up in the same spot. If you're brave, you could try holding down the power button for about 10 seconds to turn it off. Sometimes, the PC can roll back to the previous BIOS version when you restart it.

It's a tough situation. Honestly, your laptop might already be bricked, but don't panic! If you can, take a picture of the screen and show it to your school's tech support. They usually know what to do. I wouldn't turn it off until they advise you to. If this isn't a school-issued laptop, your parents might want to contact the manufacturer if it's still under warranty.

I've been through this before. Without any critical data to lose, I decided to turn my laptop off during the update. To my surprise, it turned back on and completed the update just fine. But be careful with your situation—it's BIOS, so there's always a bit more risk involved here.

From my experience with BIOS updates, about 1 in 20 can get stuck or fail completely. I recommend powering down your laptop, waiting a minute, and then turning it back on to check the status. Most modern BIOS systems have some fail-safes to avoid bricking during updates.
