Should I Just Do a Factory Reset on My Brother’s Old Gaming PC?

Hey everyone, a few years ago my brother passed away and his custom gaming PC has been sitting untouched since then. I decided to power it up and give it a try. It boots fine, but I can't remember his account password and I'm thinking about starting fresh. The WiFi keeps disconnecting and is really slow, which never happened on any other devices. Also, I noticed it says that it's sending automated queries, which is weird. Windows Defender hasn't updated in two years and is stuck scanning a huge number of files. Could there be a virus lurking on there? I don't care about any of the files since I can reinstall games from Steam once I log in. Do you guys think a factory reset would solve these issues? By the way, I have no clue how he built this PC, so I'd love a straightforward solution!

Honestly, if you're worried about malware, a clean install is probably the safest bet. The built-in reset option isn’t always reliable, and starting fresh with a new Windows installation will help clear out any potential issues. Just make sure you have a USB stick ready for the installation!
