Help Me Choose a New CPU for Gaming and Audio Work

I'm looking to replace my Ryzen 5 2600 as I upgrade my gaming setup. I plan to pair it with a 9060XT and I'm primarily focused on gaming titles like Battlefield, GTA, RDR2, PUBG, Hogwarts Legacy, and even some Minecraft. I also do some audio work in Pro Tools. I've done a lot of research but I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed with all the technical specs like single vs multicore performance, core count, clock speeds, and L3 cache. Plus, I find it hard to trust older advice from posts that might not be relevant anymore. I'm considering a few options:

* R5 7600X
* R5 7600X3D
* R7 7800X3D
* R7 9700X

I know I'll need a new motherboard as well since I'm planning on moving to the AM5 platform. I do focus more on gaming than on mixing, so that should be my priority. I'd like a build that can last me a while, so I'm open to any other recommendations you might have.

If you're planning on keeping this setup for a while, go for the R7 7800X3D or the R7 9700X. Performance-wise, the 7800X3D is great as it hit a sweet spot for gaming. Just remember, you will need to buy a new motherboard and RAM if you do choose any of those. The 9060XT might struggle to keep up in the long run, so pairing it with a 7600X3D and a 9070 would future-proof your setup more.

I just want a setup that will last at least 4 years, so longevity isn't a major concern for me.

I totally agree! The 9070 plus the 7600X3D would be ideal if you're looking for 6 years of solid gaming. The 9700X is also a good option since it has 2 extra cores for not much more cost, but the X3D chips tend to perform better in many games.
