Why Can’t My New 1440p 180Hz Monitor Reach 180Hz?

I just bought a 27-inch Hyundai gaming monitor that boasts a 1440p resolution and a refresh rate of 180Hz, but it only seems to support 144Hz. I attempted to overclock it to 165Hz, but the screen went black despite passing the test. When I try to set it to 180Hz, it just doesn't work at all. Is there something I'm missing, or did I really get scammed?

It sounds like you might need a newer HDMI or DisplayPort cable. Not all cables can handle high refresh rates, so make sure you’re using the right type. For the best results, go with DisplayPort if your PC has it—it's typically more reliable for higher refresh rates.

I used the cable that came with my PC—shouldn’t that be sufficient?
