I'm transitioning from Microsoft Word to Scrivener for my writing, but since yesterday, I've hit a major snag. I can't open any of my documents, including copies saved directly to my Linux laptop. When I try, I get an 'Access Denied' message stating that I don't have permission to view the files. I created these documents myself and have no collaborators.
The weird part is that the same issue happens when I try to access them on my iPhone SE from 2020. I'm really concerned because these documents represent years of work, and I can't afford to lose them or start over! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like it might be a permissions issue. Make sure you have the proper read and write access for your Word files. If you right-click on the files on your desktop, you should be able to check the permissions there. Also, I haven’t used Linux in a while, so I'm not entirely sure about the specifics, but this could be a good starting point.
You might need to be a bit more specific about the 'Access Denied' screen you're encountering. Is this happening on the Linux file manager or in a web browser? If your files are stored on the cloud, checking your cloud permissions could help. For local files, verifying the file permissions through your file manager might do the trick. I wish I could help more, but I need a bit more info on your setup.
Not sure if this helps, but I keep getting redirected to a specific 'Access Denied' screen when I try to open any document. Here's what it looks like! [link to image] Could this be linked to my Office365 account? What about the files stored locally on your desktop? Are they just links to the online version?
I've never heard of Scrivener, but I used to write for a living! Can you tell me what folder you're trying to open the files from? It could help get a better idea of what’s going on.
