Can a 5090 with a 9950X3D Hit 500-600 FPS at 1080p in Marvel Rivals?

Hey everyone! I'm not trolling, I promise. I mainly play Marvel Rivals, do some filmmaking, and occasionally dive into single-player games. I'm aiming for consistent 500-600 FPS on low settings, but my current 4080 setup only hits around 200-350 FPS with some dips into the high 100s at 1080p. I'm considering upgrading to a 5090 with a 9950X3D, 4TB SSD, and 64GB DDR5 RAM. Do you think this setup could help me achieve my goal of 500-600 FPS at 1080p? I know it might be overkill, but I'm just curious if it'll work. Thanks!

You might want to rethink your goals. Even if you get a 5090, if your monitor can only display 240Hz, you'll only see a fraction of those frames. That being said, a $4,000 PC might be overkill for what you’re playing now. I run a 3070Ti and 9800X3D and get 100-120 FPS on medium settings. Instead, I'd suggest optimizing your current settings with DLSS and Nvidia Reflex or even getting a higher refresh rate monitor. Going for 500-600 FPS seems unnecessary unless you’re in highly competitive gaming.

Yeah, for sure! It's all about maximizing your current setup before making a huge investment for performance you might not even use.

Exactly! Optimizing what's already there might get you a smoother experience without dropping tons of cash.

Why do you need 500 FPS? What’s the point of playing on low settings? Spending 5k on a PC you won’t even fully utilize is a lot!

CluelessGamer33 -

Good point! I find 300 FPS is usually good enough for smooth gaming.

DeepThinker76 -

Exactly. If you're getting 340-400 FPS, that’s fine. Just enjoy the gameplay!

Dude, I'm running a 9800X3D and a 7900XTX and get about 800-900 FPS on Valorant with a 360Hz monitor. You can probably get decent frames on Marvel Rivals too! Your 4080 should handle low settings at 1080p without breaking a sweat unless there’s something wrong with the setup. If you've got money to spare, why not go for the 5090 and 9950X3D, but the 4080 should be enough if tuned correctly. Just check for thermal throttling or other issues.

I get that! I'm waiting for the next GPU too, might look into the 6090 when it drops.

Thanks! My temps are fine, and I've never had overheating issues. Just trying to figure out why my performance dips.

Honestly, I don’t see that happening unless you want to buy a new GPU every year. Also, the 9950X3D won’t really give you much more compared to the 9800X3D since it's mainly about core count, which games hardly use. Just curious, why do you even want 500 FPS? What is your monitor’s refresh rate?

FpsFreak99 -

No chance it’ll hit those numbers, just be realistic with expectations!

PuzzledPlayer22 -

Right? I've never even seen a monitor that can handle those kinds of refresh rates! It’s definitely a head-scratcher.

I’m heavily overclocked with a 9800X3D and can’t break 480 FPS consistently. A stock 9950X3D won’t help you reach your goals at all. You should also check if there’s any engine limit in your game like there is with GTA V; sometimes that's a hard cap for FPS regardless of hardware.

NoobyGamer98 -

Yeah, make sure to research about the game's engine limitations first!

For sure! Also, RAM size doesn't always mean better performance. Faster RAM with lower capacity can outperform slower RAM.
