My wife has an old 17-inch MacBook Pro that she backed up around eight years ago, and she wants to recover the pictures stored on it. I tried connecting it to my Mac, but since it's linked to a different Apple account, I couldn't access the photos. There was also a notification about a new OS version, which raises concerns about future access. Unfortunately, my wife can't remember the account or password she used to back it up. Does anyone have any ideas on how to access these photos? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If your wife's old MacBook Pro is still working, you might want to try putting it in Target Disk Mode. This allows you to access files directly as if it were an external hard drive, and you shouldn’t need any login details to get to them! Just make sure you have the right cables to connect it to your Mac.
You can right-click on the iPhoto or Photos Library and choose 'Show Package Contents' to look inside. If you see the images, try to import them into Photos. It works for many users!
I tried that, but I didn't see an option to import into Photos. When I attempted to open the library, I got an error saying that the library was in a Time Machine backup. Any advice?
