Why is my brother performing better in games with worse hardware?

I'm experiencing some puzzling performance issues with my gaming rig compared to my brother's setup. I have an RX 6600 XT, 32GB of 2133MHz RAM, and a Ryzen 5 2600. On the other hand, my brother is using an RX 580, 8GB of 2400MHz RAM, and an Intel i7-7700K. Even with what looks like better components, he sometimes gets better performance, especially in specific games. I wanted to understand why this is happening. Is it due to differences in our CPUs, RAM speeds, or perhaps the games being better optimized for his setup? How can I figure this out?

Honestly, you need to dive deeper. Is your RAM really stuck at 2133MHz? You might not have turned on XMP/EXPO in the BIOS, which can really boost your RAM speeds. Try benchmarking, and check usage stats during the test to see if your CPU or GPU is under pressure while gaming. Are both of you on SSDs? That could affect load times.

There are a lot of factors at play! Different games can perform better on different CPUs. Some are more optimized for Intel like yours. Plus, make sure you're playing the same games with the same settings and resolutions. That'll give you a clearer picture. What kind of performance differences are you seeing anyway?

I’ve noticed that in a game like Schedule 1, I get around 40-50 FPS while he hits 70. That’s a huge difference for me.

Yeah, that really stands out! Depending on the game, CPUs can definitely impact FPS more than the GPU.
