Hey everyone! I'm upgrading from an Intel i7-6700K and considering either the AMD AM5 platform with a 9600X or sticking with AM4 and going for the 5700X3D. I also plan to upgrade my RAM from 16GB to 32GB and get a new SSD. The 9600X is cheaper where I live, but I want to make a smart long-term decision. I'm aware the 5700X3D has some advantages, but I feel like the AM5 system might be the better choice overall to avoid having to replace my motherboard and DDR4 RAM later on. For context, I'm currently using a 3060 Ti. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Definitely go for the AM5! It sets you up well for future upgrades, especially if you're looking to upgrade your GPU later. The combination of a great CPU and DDR5 RAM is a solid investment.
As a owner of the 5700X3D, I can confirm going AM5 is the smart move. In a few years, you can upgrade to something like the 11700X3D and get many more years out of your build. Alternatives like the 7500F or 7700 are worth checking for prices too.
You know, the AM5 CPUs are pretty comparable in gaming to the 5700X3D under most conditions, except in specific scenarios where L3 cache really matters. I'd say just go for the AM5 and be future-proof!
Seriously, don’t invest in an older platform like AM4. AM5 is the way to go for better future support. If you're gonna build new, go with the 9600X or consider the 7700X for those extra cores!
I'd recommend the AM5 as well, but if you're looking for best bang for your buck, consider the 7700 non-X over the 9600X. It's got similar performance with more cores. Just make sure you pair it with decent DDR5 RAM for the best results!
